Secure data or database support & management in Shropshire

DATA MANAGEMENT

Data is the lifeblood of business.  CALLTECH can design, install and configuring database management systems (DBMS ) such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL based on system requirements and best practices.

There are four essential elements to the management of any database;  Create, Read, Update and Delete.  These essential operations are necessary to create and manage persistent data elements, and apply equally to all database formats.

[ BONUS:  database support fundamentals ]

1.  Database design & modelling:  Collaborating with the client to design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, relationships and constraints that meet all application requirements in order to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.

2.  Data backup & recovery:  CALLTECH will implement backup and recovery strategies to protect database data against loss, corruption, or unauthorised access. . .  thereon, performing regular backups, creating disaster recovery plans and testing restore procedures.

3.  Performance monitoring & tuning:  Database performance metrics such as;  query execution times, resource utilisation and storage capacity will be monitored in real time.

4.  Security management:  Implementing database security best practices to protect sensitive data from unauthorised access, SQL injection attacks, and data breaches.  Plus;  CALLTECH can manage user access control, encryption, auditing and on-going compliance with GDPR.

5.  Database maintenance:  CALLTECH will perform routine database maintenance tasks such as;  reindexing, vacuuming, data purging and software updates.  These steps ensure database integrity, will optimise performance and prevent data fragmentation.

6.  Troubleshooting   issue resolution:  Investigating and resolving database-related issues such as data corruption, connectivity problems, performance degradation, and error messages.  Utilising database management tools, logs and diagnostic utilities allows CALLTECH to identify and address problems.

7.  Data migration & upgrades:  Planning and executing database migrations, upgrades, and data conversions to move data between different database platforms, versions, or deployment environments (as in the case study below).  CALLTECH will ensure data consistency, integrity, and minimise downtime during migrations.

DATA MIGRATION

. . .and GDPR cleaning

Data migration is the process of selecting, preparing and extracting data in order to either;  transfer them from one computer storage system to another or, transform the format of records to ensure compatibility with a different database application.

For example;  when moving a critical business application from a traditional, premises based, data center to public cloud servers, CALLTECH can prevent potential data loss by adapting all records in line with each computing environment's data models and configuration.

[ BONUS:  data migration case study ]

The primary aim of this project was to consolidate legacy data that had accumulated in several disparate databases, some of which were non-relational, into PostgreSQL on a cloud-based VPS (Virtual Private Server ).  CALLTECH also authored a library of queries, designed to meet the client's evolving administrative needs.

General Data Protection Regulations:

Under the terms of GDPR, customers have the right to receive a report detailing any personally identifiable data being held and, if appropriate, to request its deletion.  For this client, all responses to such on-going requests are actioned by CALLTECH and the database cleaned accordingly.

Cost reference;  An initial fee of £900 was levied to design and set up the new cloud database, then to transpose and migrate all existing data.  This project, with extended business hours support access, is billed at £240 per month on Standing Order.
